US Marine Corps Deploys MADIS Drone Hunter-Killer Tactical Vehicle for Air Defense
The US Marine Corps has introduced the Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS), a drone hunter-killer tactical vehicle that became operational after production began in September. Following extensive training and a live-fire exercise, the MADIS is now equipped with a 30mm autocannon and FIM-92 Stinger missiles, enabling Marine commanders to effectively engage enemy drones at low altitudes.
The system is based on Joint Light Tactical Vehicles designed to counter both manned and unmanned aerial threats. The MADIS enhances expeditionary air defense capabilities for Marine units. The use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is increasingly significant in modern warfare, providing tactical reconnaissance and operational intelligence, as well as enabling strategic strikes. The development of MADIS reflects lessons learned from recent conflicts, including operations in Ukraine.
