The US is considering financing up to $2 billion for a new armored vehicle production plant in Israel, part of the Israeli government's 'Armored Vehicle Acceleration Project' aimed at boosting production of Merkava tanks and troop carriers for the IDF. The project, estimated to cost around $1.5 billion, will be funded through US military aid, which currently totals at least $3.8 billion annually.
