The US Navy has awarded a $57.4 million follow-on contract to Texas-based Helicopter Institute for pilot training services under the Contractor Operated Pilot Training-Rotary (COPT-R) program, which will run until 2030. This contract will provide basic flight instruction for rotary-wing naval flight students, transitioning them to the US Navy's flight school at NAS Whiting Field, where they will use the TH-73A Thrasher and the new TH-66 Sage trainer. The US Army is also considering the TH-66 for its Flight School Next program.
