The U.S. Navy has awarded L3Harris Technologies a $30.9 million contract to develop the TB-29C towed-array sonar for Virginia-class submarines, enhancing their detection capabilities against stealthy enemy submarines.

This next-generation passive sonar system features 416 channels and improved reliability while maintaining the design of its predecessor, the TB-29A. The project will be completed by September 2028 across multiple locations in the U.S.
