US Navy Receives John Lewis-Class Oiler USNS Lucy Stone from General Dynamics NASSCO

DEFENSE

The US Navy received the John Lewis-class fleet replenishment oiler USNS Lucy Stone (T-AO 209) on December 16, marking its official transfer from General Dynamics NASSCO. The delivery follows successful sea trials that confirmed the ship's readiness and capability.

The USNS Lucy Stone will enhance the Navy’s replenishment and direct fueling operations. John Lewis-class ships are operated by the Military Sealift Command and are designed for significant oil and cargo capacity, supporting the Navy's Combat Logistics Force. General Dynamics NASSCO is also producing additional T-AOs, including USNS Sojourner Truth (T-AO 210) and others under contract, further expanding the Navy's fuel delivery capabilities.
