USACE Installs First Emergency Power Generator in New Albany, Mississippi Following Winter Storm
DEFENSE
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has installed its first emergency power generator in New Albany, Mississippi, to assist communities affected by the January 2026 winter storm, in collaboration with FEMA and MEMA.
The generator was set up at a warming shelter shortly after midnight, with additional installations planned as part of a broader response to restore power and ensure public safety across the state. USACE crews are operating from a generator staging base established at Camp McCain in Grenada.
