Vice Adm. Robert Gaucher Nominated to Oversee U.S. Submarine Construction as First DRPM
Vice Adm. Robert Gaucher has been nominated to become the first submarine direct reporting portfolio manager (DRPM) if confirmed. This new role, announced by the Pentagon, will oversee non-nuclear construction of Virginia and Columbia-class submarines and will report to Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg.
Gaucher, currently commander of Naval Submarine Forces and a career submariner, has held various positions including director of strategic integration for naval operations. His nomination aligns with a Pentagon initiative to enhance operator input in weapon system requirements.
Additionally, Vice Adm. Jeffery Jablon has been nominated as deputy commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet, and Rear Adm.
Dougals Verissimo has been nominated to lead Naval Air Forces Command. Rear Adm. Darin Via has been nominated to lead the Defense Health Agency.
