Vitol Joins Consortium for $3 Billion LNG-to-Power Project in South Africa

Vitol Group is part of a consortium proposing a $3 billion gas-to-power project in South Africa, aimed at replacing aging coal stations. The project will import liquefied natural gas and generate at least 1,000 megawatts of capacity.
ACWA Power may join as a developer specializing in gas turbines. The initiative has received Strategic Integrated Project status from Infrastructure South Africa to expedite construction. The project is part of South Africa's strategy to transition from coal to renewable energy and gas.
