DEFENSE
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) has developed a lightweight bulletproof jacket weighing 7.5 kg, utilizing composite materials and aluminum, with plans to reduce the weight to under 6 kg. Successful test firings against 7.62 mm bullets have been conducted, and the institute is also exploring shock-absorbing panels and other defense projects in collaboration with DRDO. Once the technology is validated, it will be made available to both public and private sectors.
