WAANSA Urges Legislative Reforms Following Armed Incident in Accra, Ghana

The West Africa Action Network on Small Arms (WAANSA) has called for legislative reforms in response to a violent incident in Accra involving armed individuals suspected to be landguards, where police arrested six and seized firearms and ammunition. WAANSA condemned the violence and urged Parliament to prioritize reforms to address small arms proliferation, improve stockpile management, and impose stricter penalties for illegal arms possession. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana and ECOWAS in implementing arms conventions.
