YPF Extends GNL Escobar Contract with ENARSA to 2029
YPF has extended the contract of the GNL Escobar consortium with Energía Argentina S.A. (ENARSA) until January 31, 2029, ensuring the continuity of a critical energy supply infrastructure. The transaction was classified as a related-party operation due to both companies' state participation and was approved by YPF's Audit Committee.
The GNL terminal, operational since 2011, features a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) provided by Excelerate Energy. The current FSRU, Expedient, has a storage capacity of approximately 150,900 cubic meters of LNG, equivalent to about 90.5 million cubic meters of natural gas post-regasification.
It can achieve a maximum regasification rate of 22 to 25 million cubic meters daily. The extension aligns with Argentina's energy transition efforts, providing operational stability and maintaining critical capacity that can meet 12% to 15% of national gas demand during peak periods.
