Amon Maritime Secures NOK 298 Million Grant for Three Ammonia-Fueled Bulk Carriers

AMMONIA

Norway's Amon Maritime has received a NOK 298 million ($29.2 million) grant from Enova to construct three ammonia-fueled bulk carriers, each with a capacity of 80,000-85,000 DWT. This funding increases Amon Maritime's total secured support to NOK 552 million for five ammonia-fueled vessels, with all scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2030.

The new builds aim to meet EU Emissions Trading System and FuelEU Maritime requirements, enhancing compliance with tightening emissions regulations. The project is part of Amon Bulk's strategy to support European steelmakers in reducing their carbon footprint and advancing the shipping industry's transition to zero-carbon fuels.
