Açores Vice-President Artur Lima Highlights Need for Cybersecurity in Digital Transition

Artur Lima, Vice-President of the Azores Government, emphasized that regional digital transition requires a strong cybersecurity culture. Speaking at the 'Cybersecurity in the Public Business Fabric - Table Top Exercise' in Angra do Heroísmo, Lima stated that the Government is committed to digital transition alongside locals, municipalities, companies, and regional institutions.

He noted that digitalization must be a competitive advantage rather than a vulnerability and stressed the need for training to meet future challenges. Lima highlighted the ongoing modernization of public administration, including enhanced data processing security through existing data centers.

He mentioned that by 2026, a new remote work system, Mobile.Gov, will be completed. Continuous investment in cybersecurity is essential to safeguard and enhance the region's business activities. He also remarked on the geostrategic importance of the Azores for global security.
