Arizona House Approves House Bill 2795 for Nuclear Reactors After Rejecting Similar Bill

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTUREFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

The Arizona House of Representatives approved House Bill 2795, allowing nuclear reactors near data centers after rejecting a similar bill. The new bill, sponsored by Michael Carbone, requires federal permits for such reactors, unlike the previously rejected House Bill 2456.

Both bills are expanded versions of last year's vetoed proposal by Governor Katie Hobbs. Nuclear reactor advocacy groups are pushing for small modular reactors amid rising energy demands from data centers.
