Baden-Württemberg Joins Germany's State Alliance for Fusion Research
FUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
Baden-Württemberg has joined Germany's State Alliance for Fusion Research, which now includes seven states, with the goal of developing a commercially viable fusion power plant by 2035, backed by €2.4 billion from the government. Key initiatives include a fusion power plant in Gundremmingen and new laser fusion hubs, each receiving €30 million for research infrastructure enhancement. The Wendelstein 7-X stellarator is scheduled to resume operations in September 2026, focusing on high heating power plasma pulses.
