Bangladesh has unveiled a draft National AI Policy for 2026-2030, aimed at fostering innovation and economic growth while aligning with Vision 2041 and UN sustainable development goals. The policy focuses on digital sovereignty, the development of a Bangla-based large language model, and includes a risk-based regulatory framework for AI systems, alongside plans for an AI Innovation Fund to support research. It also addresses potential job displacement in the garment sector and integrates AI education into schools, with the policy set to remain until a permanent Artificial Intelligence Act is established in 2030.
