Blue Energy to Develop 1.5 GW SMR Project for Crusoe in Texas by 2031
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTUREFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
Blue Energy plans to develop a 1.5 gigawatt small modular reactor (SMR) project in partnership with Crusoe, a data center developer. The project will be located at the Port of Victoria, Texas, with a site secured under an October agreement.
Blue Energy aims to mitigate cost overruns and expedite construction by fabricating SMR components at existing oil and gas facilities. The partnership will employ existing transmission and gas infrastructure at the Victoria site, supplying gas to the Crusoe AI data center by 2028 before transitioning to nuclear power by 2031. The reactor technology will be partially buried underground within a cooling pool.
