Burkina Faso's Ministry of Mines Discusses Strategic Minerals at CASEM Meeting
On December 16, 2025, Burkina Faso's Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Quarries held the second ordinary session of the Sectoral Administration Council (CASEM) in Ouagadougou. In 2025, gold production reached 40,869 tonnes, contributing over 327 billion F CFA to state revenues, raising the extractive industry's share of GDP to approximately 17.1%. The government has implemented emergency electricity projects and signed an intergovernmental agreement on June 19, 2025, in Saint Petersburg for a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso to enhance energy security.
