FUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

By mid-2025, China operates 58 nuclear power units with a capacity of over 60.7 GW and has 44 units under construction, adding 52.4 GW. The country aims to reach a total installed capacity of 150 GW by 2035, increasing nuclear's share in power generation to 10%.

China has achieved full localization of key nuclear technologies, delivering 114 domestic nuclear power equipment sets in 2024. China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has exported seven nuclear units to Pakistan and is involved in projects across multiple countries, including a gamma irradiation facility in Peru and MNSRs in Thailand.

Under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China plans to build approximately 30 nuclear reactors in BRI countries over the next decade.
