In 2025, Chinese foreign investments reached $124 billion, marking an 18% increase from 2024. The focus is shifting from the US and Eastern Europe towards Africa and the Middle East. Investments in sub-Saharan Africa grew from 5% in 2020 to 22% of the total.

North America and Europe attracted less than 20% of Chinese capital, down from 70% in 2016. The largest beneficiaries remain in Asia at $40 billion, while sectors like mining, data centers, and energy led greenfield investments. Manufacturing interest is declining, especially in Central and Eastern Europe.
