Duke Energy Florida Launches First Integrated Green Hydrogen Production System in Volusia County

ELECTROLYZERHYDROGENNATURAL GAS

Duke Energy Florida has inaugurated the DeBary Hydrogen Production Storage System in Volusia County, marking the first integrated facility in the U.S. to produce, store, and combust 100% green hydrogen. Powered by a solar facility, the system employs electrolyzers to generate hydrogen with zero direct emissions and enhances grid flexibility by fueling a combustion turbine during peak demand. This initiative supports renewable energy integration and aims to contribute to the long-term decarbonization of the energy mix.
