ECB Plans AI Data Center with Investor to Utilize Waste Heat for Local Heating Network
The European Central Bank (ECB) aims to establish an AI Data Center on its land, seeking an investor for development and operation. A special purpose vehicle (SPV) will be created to lease the property, with an option for future sale to the investor.
The project includes an agreement between ECB and the investor to regulate project work and legal issues related to the land. This agreement may involve the transfer of shares or rights in the SPV owning the property or usage rights of ECB's land.
The AI Data Center project is a key strategic goal outlined in ECB's Group Development Strategy for 2025-2035, focusing on utilizing land while recovering waste heat to support the local heating network. The initiative will be managed by ECB's subsidiary, Czysta Energia. An agreement with PwC Advisory is in place until December 2026, with the project expected to significantly contribute to the company's digital and ecological transformation.
