The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) is investing 31 billion baht to enhance the power transmission system in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) to support data centre operations. The upgrade includes a 1.5 billion baht allocation for the Phan Thong substation, aiming to increase transfer capacity from 600 MW to 1,150 MW.
The EEC is set to develop 16 new data centres by 2030, requiring an additional 3,600 MW of electricity. Thailand's electricity supply capacity is currently adequate, with peak consumption recorded at over 33,000 MW against a supply of 55,000 MW.
