Enakta Labs Advances DAOS for Enterprise Supercomputing and AI Workloads
Enakta Labs, founded in 2023, aims to transform DAOS, a high-performance storage system originally conceived by Intel, into a usable product for enterprise and supercomputing environments. DAOS is currently deployed in the Aurora supercomputer at Argonne National Laboratory.
Enakta Labs focuses on improving DAOS's accessibility and performance, integrating it with familiar interfaces like SMB and S3 in partnership with Tuxera. The company claims DAOS can recover from node failures at network speed, and offers memory checkpointing at full hardware speeds, enhancing financial efficiency.
With support from Google, Enakta Labs has developed a direct integration with PyTorch for machine learning workloads, emphasizing their customer-centric approach over investor-driven strategies. Enakta Labs aims to address the challenges of scaling from small to large systems, ensuring DAOS meets the demands of modern AI and HPC applications.
