Enakta Labs Develops Fastest Open-Source Storage Engine DAOS for Broader Use
Denis Nuja and Denis Barakhtanov, founders of Enakta Labs, are transforming data storage with their open-source project, DAOS (Distributed Asynchronous Object Storage). Initially developed by Intel for the U.S. government, DAOS is designed for extreme speed and holds performance records on the Aurora supercomputer, the largest DAOS installation with 1000 nodes.
However, its complexity limited accessibility. To address this, Nuja and Barakhtanov founded Enakta Labs in 2023, after a three-year effort to decouple DAOS from Intel's Optane memory. Their innovations led to record performance benchmarks on the Core42 Maximus system with 10,000 GPUs, achieving 275 gigabytes per second. Enakta Labs emphasizes simplicity and support, offering direct assistance without lengthy contracts or hidden fees.
