ERDC Dedicates Supercomputer 'Barfoot' in Honor of Medal of Honor Recipient Col. Van T. Barfoot

The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) dedicated its new supercomputer, 'Barfoot', on January 22 to honor Col. Van T.

Barfoot, a Medal of Honor recipient from Mississippi. The supercomputer boasts 212,736 AMD compute cores and can perform over nine quadrillion calculations per second, reflecting Barfoot's extraordinary contributions during World War II. He is the fourth Medal of Honor recipient from Mississippi to have a supercomputer named in his honor by ERDC.
