European Energy Begins Hydrogen Production in Denmark Amid Uncertain Future for Green Hydrogen in Europe
ELECTROLYZERHYDROGEN
European Energy has launched hydrogen production at its expanded facility in Måde, Denmark, with an electrolyzer capacity of 8.1 megawatts. Despite initial optimism for the green hydrogen sector, high costs and regulatory uncertainties have hindered progress, leading to forecasts of only 1.7 million tons of production by 2030, significantly below targets. The European Commission has approved 100 hydrogen and electrolysis projects valued at approximately $1.75 trillion for the 2024-2040 period, amidst ongoing challenges in the industry.
