Georgia GOP Senators Propose Legislation to Repeal Data Center Tax Credits
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
Georgia GOP state senators have introduced Senate Bill 410 to repeal tax credits for high-technology data centers, prohibiting new sales and use tax exemptions. The bill, supported by nine Republican senators, including lieutenant governor candidates Blake Tillery and Greg Dolezal, comes amid growing concerns about the impact of data centers on local infrastructure and utility costs. A bipartisan effort is also underway to advance the sunset date for existing tax exemptions to January 1 of next year, despite data centers having created over 28,000 construction jobs and 5,000 permanent positions in the state.
