Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gumi City Sign MOU for AI Data Center Cluster in Gumi High-Tech Valley

Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Gumi City signed an MOU with the Quantum XI Consortium on December 18 to establish the 'Gumi Advanced AI Data Center Cluster' in Gumi High-Tech Valley. The project aims to create Asia's largest advanced AI data center cluster, with a total capacity of 1.3 GW, implemented in three phases.

The first phase involves expanding Gumi Hi-Tech Energy's existing 100MW AI data center project to 300MW, with construction planned to start in Q1 2026. Initial costs for the first phase are projected at approximately 4.5 trillion won, with additional investments expected for core equipment. The project targets global tech companies as primary users, aiming to strengthen South Korea's AI infrastructure and transitioning Gumi into a global AI industry hub.
