Hinkley Point C Receives Second Reactor Pressure Vessel from Framatome

Hinkley Point C in Somerset, England, has received its second reactor pressure vessel for the EPR unit, weighing 500 tonnes and measuring 13 metres, fabricated by Framatome in France. The vessel was transported from Saint-Marcel to the site, following the delivery of the first reactor pressure vessel in February 2023. The project aims to provide carbon-free electricity for six million homes, with operational targets for unit 1 set for 2030 and costs estimated between GBP 31-34 billion.
