IIAMA Study Highlights Role of Artificial Wetlands in Water Quality Improvement

AMMONIA

On World Wetlands Day, the Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de València emphasized the role of artificial wetlands in enhancing water quality and mitigating pollution. A study under the TED2021 Rainwetpipa project confirmed that the 'Tancat de la Pipa' wetland effectively functions as a buffer against pollution, achieving up to 80% retention of suspended solids and significantly reducing ammoniacal nitrogen. The findings support the design of green infrastructure for contaminated water treatment and apply to the VALPURIN project, which aims to minimize agricultural waste impact using nature-based solutions.
