IMI to Provide 1-MW Electrolyser for Hydrogen Bus Filling Station in Bielefeld, Germany

ELECTROLYZERHYDROGENSYNTHETIC FUELSFUEL CELL

The Stadtwerke Bielefeld Group is launching a project to refuel 29 dual-fuel buses with locally produced hydrogen, supported by IMI's supply of a 1-megawatt electrolyser. This electrolyser will be installed at the Bielefeld Innovation Park, utilizing solar energy to produce hydrogen, thereby reducing transport emissions and enhancing local renewable energy use. The initiative aims to tackle decarbonisation challenges faced by German bus operators, as only 27% currently have a permanent hydrogen infrastructure despite growing investments in hydrogen vehicles.
