Indian Oil Corporation Secures Certification for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production at Panipat Refinery

SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has received certification to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its Panipat refinery, with plans to produce 35,000 tonnes annually. This initiative supports India's aviation emissions reduction goals, aiming for 1% SAF blending in international flights by 2027 and increasing to 15% for domestic flights by 2040. The International Air Transport Association projects SAF could contribute to 65% of the emissions reduction needed for the aviation sector to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
