Italy's Energy Minister Announces Regulations for Data Centers and Nuclear Waste Management

Italy's Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, announced the upcoming Energy Decree aimed at reducing gas dependency and enhancing competitiveness with Germany, which includes regulations for data centers projected to consume 20 billion kilowatt-hours over the next decade. He also confirmed the renewal of the nuclear waste processing agreement with France, targeting completion by 2056, while ensuring stable gas supplies from alternative sources. Fratin emphasized a scientific approach to managing the national nuclear waste repository.
