Korean Companies Validate Eco-Friendly Data Center Technology in Ireland
Korean companies are validating data center technologies in Ireland, a major European hub, to develop eco-friendly AI infrastructure. The Irish government has implemented policies mandating renewable energy integration and energy-efficient technologies for data center permits, prompting a reevaluation of traditional cooling and construction methods.
Lumcloon Energy is advancing a 250MW data center complex, considering Korean modular data center (MDC) technology for 50MW. A 1MW proof of concept (PoC) is underway, involving Lumcloon Energy Korea, iA cloud Inc., Databean Co., Ltd., and Carbonsaurus Co., Ltd.
The consortium aims to propose an eco-friendly data center and Intelligent Energy Management System model to the European market. In mid-November, key partners signed an MOU for joint research, supported by Enterprise Ireland, and are preparing a proposal for Horizon Europe closing in February 2026. This initiative addresses rising AI computing demands while ensuring compliance with EU energy policies and carbon regulations.
