Meta to Invest $60 Billion in AMD for AI Chips and Acquire 10% Stake

Meta has agreed to purchase up to $60 billion worth of AMD's AI chips over five years, securing a performance-based warrant for 160 million shares. The deal aims to support Meta's AI infrastructure and mitigate reliance on single suppliers like Nvidia.
AMD will provide 6 gigawatts of chips, starting with 1 gigawatt of MI450 hardware. This strategic investment aligns with Meta's commitment to building substantial AI capabilities and data centers, amidst a projected $660 billion spending on AI by US tech companies in 2026.
