Michał Sołowow and Samsung C&T Partner for Small Modular Reactor Development
Michał Sołowow is collaborating with Samsung C&T for the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) in Central and Eastern Europe, Germany, and the UK. Sołowow holds exclusive rights to American-Japanese technology in these regions.
The partnership aims to leverage Samsung's engineering experience from nuclear projects, including the Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE and the Shin-Kori plant in South Korea. Last week, Synthos Green Energy (SGE), Sołowow's company, signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung in Seoul to expedite the SMR project using Korean technological capabilities.
Samsung is also considering a capital investment in SGE, which could accelerate SMR technology deployment in Europe. SGE has exclusive rights to construct BWRX-300 technology SMRs in the region. The first SMR completion in Canada is projected for 2029, with ongoing projects in Poland in collaboration with Orlen, where the first unit is scheduled for 2032.
