Mindanao Development Authority and Davao del Norte Pursue Data Center and SMR Investments with Hyundai in Korea
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte are seeking investment partnerships in data center development and small modular reactor (SMR) technologies following a visit to Hyundai Engineering and Construction in Korea. This visit is part of a three-day Mindanao Investment Mission led by MinDA Chairperson Sec.
Leo Tereso Magno, highlighting the improved business climate in Mindanao. Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib and MinDA Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro engaged with Hyundai executives, showcasing Mindanao's strategic location and infrastructure.
MinDA noted that the Philippines is a strong candidate for Hyundai's Asian expansion. The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s focus on energy security and digital infrastructure investments, aiming to position Mindanao as a hub for advanced industries.
