Mythic Raises $125M to Launch Energy-Efficient Analog Processing Units for AI Applications
Mythic has raised $125 million in an oversubscribed funding round led by DCVC to develop Analog Processing Units (APUs) that are 100 times more energy-efficient than current GPUs. The new funding follows a comprehensive overhaul of Mythic's architecture and strategy, attracting a consortium of investors including NEA, Softbank KR, and Honda Motors.
Mythic's APUs, designed to address the high energy consumption of AI workloads, can perform 120 trillion operations per second per watt, significantly reducing energy waste compared to traditional GPU architectures. The company's technology aims to disrupt four trillion-dollar markets: data centers, automotive, robotics, and defense.
Mythic's manufacturing strategy utilizes standard semiconductor materials and is based in the U.S. and allied countries, providing a competitive edge over existing GPU-based solutions. The new CAMP SDK enhances compatibility with major deep learning frameworks, positioning Mythic to lead in AI inference efficiency.
