Leeds-based startup Optalysys has secured £23 million in funding to enhance the development of its light-powered AI chips, bolstering the UK's position in AI hardware. The investment, led by Northern Gritstone and supported by the UK government's National Security Strategic Investment Fund, will facilitate the scaling of its photonic computing technology and expansion into the U.S. market, targeting secure AI computing and data centers with energy-efficient alternatives to traditional semiconductors.
