Oracle Considers Allowing Customers to Bring Their Own Hardware to Data Centers
Oracle is exploring the option for customers to bring their own hardware into its data centers, as discussed by co-CEO Clay Magouryk during an earnings call. This approach could reduce Oracle's capital expenses, focusing instead on data center operation costs.
Different business models are also being considered, including capacity rental and hardware leasing from chip providers. Notably, Nvidia has engaged in similar leasing agreements. Additionally, Oracle is adapting its AI provisioning in response to changing customer demands, typically enabling capacity adjustments within two to three days. Oracle has expanded its Cloud offering, deploying hardware in partner data centers across 12 locations, including regions in India and Canada, and plans to add more regions in the next year to meet customer demand.
