Oswego Village President: Data Centers Unlikely Due to Infrastructure Limitations
DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE
Oswego Village President Ryan Kauffman stated that data center developments are unlikely in the village due to insufficient infrastructure, particularly the lack of electrical substations. During a village board meeting, he explained that Oswego is not adequately positioned near a power grid focal point to support the significant energy demands of data centers.
Kauffman emphasized that while Yorkville has the necessary infrastructure, Oswego does not plan to develop such facilities. His remarks followed a resident's concerns about the approval processes for larger projects in the area, particularly in towns like Yorkville that faced public opposition.
