The Power-to-MEDME-R&D project, a collaboration led by the Fraunhofer Institute, has successfully completed its research on sustainable production of green hydrogen, methanol, and dimethyl ether (DME) in Chile. The project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, demonstrated the viability of local production and export of these green fuels, while also assessing social and environmental impacts and training local engineers. Findings emphasize Chile's potential for decarbonization in mining and the importance of Chilean-German cooperation in advancing green hydrogen initiatives.
