Pupuk Indonesia Plans Fertilizer Factory in West Papua with Estimated Cost of $1.7 Billion

Pupuk Indonesia is set to develop a $1.7 billion fertilizer factory in West Papua, with its subsidiary Pupuk Kaltim overseeing the project. Located in Tomage District, the facility will produce 825,000 tons of ammonia and 1.15 million tons of urea annually, with construction beginning in Q2 2024 and operations anticipated by 2027. The project site has been relocated from Teluk Bintuni to Fior and Andamata villages, following a groundbreaking ceremony led by President Joko Widodo.
