RAF Ash Base Converted into Secure Data Center by CyberFort
The RAF Ash base, originally built in the 1950s for the UK Ministry of Defence's ROTOR radar system, has been repurposed into a data center operated by CyberFort. Decommissioned in the 1990s, the underground bunker is designed to withstand nuclear blasts and is now known as the Bunker.
It provides colocation and managed services and emphasizes digital sovereignty for its clients, influenced by geopolitical changes. The facility has a power capacity of 3MW, dual power feeds, and backup from three 750kVA diesel generators.
It utilizes air-cooled cooling systems and has security measures including proximity sensors and reinforced structures. Currently, the data center operates at 50% capacity, with plans for further expansion and adaptation to meet client needs. CyberFort aims to maintain a niche market by offering personalized services rather than pursuing large-scale customer numbers.
