Romania plans to establish the Black Sea AI Gigafactory, featuring over 100,000 AI processors, by 2028, alongside an expansion of its nuclear energy capacity. The project, which aims to support AI development for countries like Ukraine and Turkey, involves modernizing existing reactors and constructing new ones to meet energy demands. Estimated at €5 billion, it will compete with 76 other EU projects for funding, with applications expected in spring 2026.
