The Sarthe department received the 'D d'Or' award for soft mobility, recognizing its development of greenways. The award ceremony, organized by Groupe Delbo Presse and Le Journal des Départements, highlighted Sarthe's achievements.

Previously, in 2023, Sarthe was honored for its wildfire prevention policy, and in 2024 for the establishment of the Sartera public data center. In 2025, the focus was on the greenways development program, which involves converting nearly 85 kilometers of former railway lines and adding new routes to ultimately reach 200 kilometers of departmental cycling paths. These greenways are pivotal for Sarthe, emphasizing mobility and biodiversity, enabling exploration of the region on foot or by bike without vehicles while ensuring the preservation of species in natural spaces.
