The Shelbyville Common Council has postponed a decision on an annexation and rezoning request for over 400 acres intended for a data center, following concerns about environmental impacts and a negative recommendation from the Plan Commission. Councilwoman Betsy Means-Davis called for an independent environmental study and specific ordinances for data centers, while residents voiced worries about water usage, noise, and property values. The council will revisit the matter on February 18.
