South Carolina Secures $9.1B in Capital Investment from New and Expanding Businesses in 2025

In 2025, South Carolina attracted $9.12 billion in capital investment from 82 economic development projects, marking its third-best year for such investments and creating 8,100 jobs. Nearly 46% of this funding, approximately $4.25 billion, was allocated to rural areas, with significant projects including a $280 million biomass energy plant and a $250 million wood-fiberboard factory. Additionally, 32 projects qualified for $25 million in public grants aimed at enhancing local infrastructure.
