Sri Lanka has initiated a digitalization programme for schools, backed by a grant from China, aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to education. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya highlighted the importance of addressing digital disparities, while the project will establish a cloud data center, implement a distance learning system, and create approximately 900 AI-enabled smart classrooms. The agreement was signed by Nalaka Kaluwewa, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, and Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong.
